Dr William K Walter

Dr Walter is the founding partner and most senior orthopaedic surgeon at Sydney Hip & Knee Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, former Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Mater Private Hospital, and former Chairman of the Medical Executive at the Mater Private Hospital.

Dr Walter is a long standing Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, a founding member and past president of the Arthroplasty Society of Australia and a member of the Board for the Australian Institute of Musculo-Skeletal Research. Dr Walter’s interest in hip and knee replacement surgery began in the 1970s when it was first done in Australia; he has since done many thousands of joint replacements and is among the most respected surgeons in Australia.

Dr Walter operates at the Mater Hospital in Crows Nest. He has been involved in the training of many of the orthopaedic surgeons in Sydney and he is regarded as 'the orthopaedic surgeon's orthopaedic surgeon’. Dr Walter is married, has four grown-up children and seven grandchildren. He enjoys the outdoors and is a keen sailor.
